Microsoft has been releasing monthly updates for the Xbox One console since the beginning of this year, if not the launch of the console. This month we got the ability to adjust volume sliders for snapped apps and some tuning upgrades. However, next months we will be able to use external storage to get over the ridiculously small hard drive that comes with the Xbox One as well as the 'real name' ID that was teased at last years E3, the ability to use apps such as Netflix and Hulu without a gold subscription and the ability to automatically sign in when booting up your console as you can with the Xbox 360.
The one thing I noticed that's insane about this update, is to use external storage you must have a 3.0 Flashdrive with at least 256 GB of space available. Now, I just bought two 64 GB flash drives that were around $40 a piece and when I set them up for use with the Xbox One, they only gave me 32 GB of usable space. I'm not analyst, but I'm pretty damn sure a 250GB flash drive is going to cost some serious dough.
Of course, I'm sure they will drop in the long run as well as Microsoft putting out an 'affordable' XBOX ONE designed thumb drive that will only be cheaper than it's brothers for a month or so.
Suddenly, I'm having flash backs of the first year and a half I spent on XBOX with a 20 GB hard drive having to constantly delete DLC to install new ones...
Also, with the real name update, you can choose who sees your real name on your friends list. I imagine it will be no one, all players, all friends or favorites like the notifications and other privacy settings.
The full story is linked below. Despite the cost issues, I'm excited about this update and would be happy to have my real name ID displayed to Panic Nation members.
