Well, it appears the rumors are true. Star Wars is destined to become a 'yearly' franchise like we see with the Call of Duty and Assassins Creed games, with a spin-off movie between each of the main entries. People have already posted the rumored details of the spin-offs, with the first following the story of the mandolorian bounty hunter, Boba Fett. Gary Whitta, one of the chief writers of the walking dead video games and the writer of the book of Eli is set to write the script for the new film. While Gareth Edwards, the director of the now critically acclaimed Godzilla movie that just hit theaters is manning the directors station. As a Star Wars fan, this news hits me with plenty of skepticism. I love the Star Wars Universe and the idea of Boba Fett having an entire film dedicated to him seems pretty awesome. My issue is, I really don't want to see series fatigue for the film like we've seen in Call of Duty and Assassin's creed. I think pushing out a movie once a year is a bit much and could easily lead to running out of ideas. However, with that said, I could be wrong. I could find myself sitting in the theater each year loving every moment of the latest installment, so for now I'll bite my tongue and hope for the best. What do you guys think? I think it will be really good to start out, but then the movies will degrade more and more each year until people wish a new movie would come and ole yeller them. But, like you I will bite my tongue and hope for the best cuz Star Wars <3

It will take some time but this plan will ultimately run the franchise into the ground.

It will take some time but this plan will ultimately run the franchise into the ground. I agree, but I don't think it will take long at all. I think Disney is gonna take the Star Wars train and run that bitch off a cliff right away. I am not looking forward to Ep. 7 for this reason. Don't get me wrong I enjoy Star Wars I like all 6 movies, but I am so far past being skeptical of this new one being any good. Now hearing that they will try and push out a new movie every year, along with the fact that the movies will have different directors leaves me with no doubt that this will be a terrible set of films.

I have to disagree with both of you at that point. Seeing what Disney has done with the Marvel franchises gives me a lot of hope.
I mean Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, The Avengers... All these movies are coming out back-to-back-to-back and I haven't seen a bad one yet (excluding Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengence). I also haven't felt fatigued from hero movies. I actually plan to see X-Men at some point this weekend and try to weasel in the new Spider-Man next weekend.
I am worried that we will see Call of Dutyesque fatigue in the series. However, I have my full faith in Abrams and Edwards to make some amazing films.
That being said, I don't see how they could kill the franchise more unless one of the spin-offs is "Jar Jar: The tale of oopsie Otah Gunga!" or something along those lines.
I also hate being negative. I really do, and when it comes to Star Wars, I'm trying my best to remain optimistic. There is no reason to sulk and bitch about something that I haven't seen yet, so I'll take the classic route and get my hopes high as a kite. If they get shot down and stomped on, so be it. I'll take that risk.
Also, David Episode 7 has had shots leaked that show potential AT-AT's and I dunno' if you watched the clip for the 'Force for Change' bit but the alien that walks up behind J.J. looks very cool like they went back to puppets and such.
I'm stoked. But wary. Only time will tell.
