During its E3 digital presentation, Nintendo confirmed that Animal Crossing is coming to Wii U. Before you get visions of home decoration and turnip sales though, you might want to read ahead.
Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival is a party game with a board game aesthetic. Players travel around the village, landing on spaces, and encountering classic Animal Crossing events.
These don't seem like activities, and instead appear to be themed spots on the playing board. For instance you might encounter Joan selling turnips or a fishing competition. Four Amiibo figures were announced alongside it: Isabelle, Tom Nook, KC Slider, and Mabel. The game (and presumably the associated figures) will be out this holiday season.
We also got another look at Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer, the 3DS game that makes use of NFC cards and the interior design feature of the core series. In addition to coordinating room interiors, it appears that you'll need to help someone find the right plot of land in town for their home. This reminded us a bit of Dark Cloud's town restoration feature.
Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer will be out on September 25, 2015. Nintendo did not outright confirm that the standalone NFC reader for older 3DS models will be shipping on that date, but we presume that to be the case given how crucial it is to gameplay.
