Some of you may have already seen the thread by Loveorlust69 trekking around talking about a new battlefield game called Hardline that follows a police force rather than a military force.
As it turns out, the game is indeed official and launching in the fall. A video has also been leaked and promptly pulled down by EA revealing some 'Alpha'esque footage of the game, meaning it's older and likely not the newest film.
However, the game seemed to have a TV show type campaign with each mission being a different episode. In the campaign, the story revolves around a officer named Nick Mendoza who finds himself duking it out with crooked cops and other criminals.
A small section of the source article gives me L.A. Noire flashbacks; "Gadgets play a big role, with police scanners and investigation part of the story. You'll also be able to use zip lines and find out if your suspects have outstanding warrants."
A few details on the multiplayer were also leaked that got me rather excited, and that would be the game modes they are boasting; "Multiplayer includes elements like hostage rescue, heists (attacking/robbing or defending a vault), explosion filled car chases (called "hotwire") across open environments, and one-flag capture mode called bloodmoney that puts a stack of cash in place of the stars and stripes. All of the destruction players expect from Battlefield is on hand in urban settings and more remote locales."
I can't say I'm jumping out of my skin in excitement for the game, but I will admit it's peaked my interest as does most anything stepping outside the boundaries of a military shooter.
The game will be revealed in full at E3 next month.
