At 2 AM My brother, a friend, and I wanted to start a Raid. So we went to the Tower to find 3 more high leveled players. The guys we met were very skilled, and had unique traits.
When we began the Raid we didn't know what we were in for. We had to open the door to the Vault of Glass by keeping the Vex Praetorians off three plates. We beat them in about 5-10 minutes. We were thinking that Raids were hardly a challenge, but little did we know. When we walked through the entrance to the Vault of Glass, we talked about the awesome legendary gear we were gonna get after beating the Raid.
As we progressed further into the Vault of Glass, We were greeted by a boss whom is harder to defeat then any Strike boss. The Templar is it's name. It's kinda like a hydra, but it has no weaknesses to exploit, and it has magic. We needed to get through three phases in order to kill him. The first phase was a 'Protect the artifact' phase. It was challenging due to the fact, that if any Vex sacrificed itself to one of the artifacts we were protecting. The artifact would get destroyed, and we'd all die, and have to restart the objective all over again. This took a while to pass.
Then the second phase was about killing the Templar's Oracles, they'd put a curse on you, and everyone in your fireteam. The curse instantly kills all of you. The Oracles don't show on your radar, but they do play a melody when they spawn. We died... A lot, but we eventually killed them all.
Then, in the third phase, a shield/relic appeared that had an ability to cure you of your curses, and could take down the Templar's shield. After about an hour, we eventually beat him. He was trapping us in shields that crush you, sending out high level enemies, and of course a TON of oracles.
After defeating it, we began to know what we were in for, and expected that the worst was surely over...
We then progressed to a area with a cliff. The cliff was so high off the ground we assumed it was a instant death boundary. My Brother jumped down, and discovered there was no boundary. You just needed to fall, and live from falling an unbelievable height. It was easy as soon as we figured out what to do.
Then we had to go through a labyrinth filled with hovering one eyed jelly fish. Seems easy right? Well, if they look at you, you, and your fireteam instantly die. This took a good 30+ minutes, but only the Hunter Blade Dancers had a easy time with this. Since they can turn invisible. Tip: They don't really look up unless you shoot at them
After getting passed that, only then we truly entered the Vault of Glass. There were structures that appeared, and disappeared. This took about 5 minutes to do. For my brother who is a Hunter Blade Dancer. He was the first to make it through, but he never landed on a structure do to the Blade Dancer's Super which made him practically fly as he swung his knife...
Then after going through all that, the first couple people who've made it through the obstetrical course were phased at a locked door. They had no Idea how to get passed they assumed there was some elaborate way to get passed this door... It turns out, they were waiting for me since I am one of those unfortunate people who spawn right when the first structure disappears... I was determined.
I will leave the last part a surprise for you, but I will say there's time traveling, and we haven't beat this area yet. We assume it's the final area due to the challenge. We tried about 20 times (Might be over exaggerating), Just know that we started from 2 AM (technically 3 AM) to 10 AM, because we were all tired. If you beat this area before me, let me know your teams tactics.
Also after this my brother decided to stay on, after we all left, and a fireteam consisting of five level 24s invited him to their fireteam, asking him if he'd like to do a Raid, and of course he told them not only no, but terrified them. I kinda heard some of this conversation (He's pretty loud) so I know it's true. He apparently told them the story of our semi-failed Raid. One party member of their fireteam left after another. Untill it was the Host, and himself. Then the Host said "Thanks for completely denying my chance of doing a Raid". (May update this last part to make the story more accurate)
So after all this do you still have plans for doing a Raid in Destiny? Take what I typed as a word of warning if you do.
Also my fireteam was made up of level 26+ players. We had 2-3 Blade Dancers, a Void Walker Warlock, and 2 Titans Striker/ Defender.
